Typing Test Tech Tip

This week I decided to do a tech tip on typing speed. I can remember back in grade school how we used to have to do typing test all the time each week to see how much we were improving our typing skills. For this test I did a trying test just like back then to see how fast I could type as well as the accuracy. I am happy with the speed of my tying but I wish I was a little more accurate with it as well. Sometimes I hit a slump where I keep having to backspace that is kind of frustrating. I think these test are a little misleading though too because you are just typing from a paragraph already written. This is totally different than trying to figure out what to write and typing it at the same time.

Week 11 Story Planning: How Can I Continue the Saga

Sooooo, this week I have found myself in quite a predicament. I have written another story that will fit well with my preacher epic that I have been writing and so I am happy with that. The problem that I have now it that I feel myself running out of creative thoughts and stories that I think I could implement into the portfolio (or storybook at this point, I don't know). I read some Jataka tales this week and I did really enjoy them but I am not totally sure how to morph something like that into a more real world and serious storyline. Maybe I shouldn't thought. Perhaps instead I could write like a little interlude to break up the story. I could use one of the Jataka tales and just change the characters to fit my storyline so far and make it a fun and playful intermission story that will give the reader something fun to read. It will most likely not have anything to do with the overall storyline of the The Confused Ox epic but could be just a fun side story to write. I do...

Week 11 Reading Notes: Part B

For the second part of this weeks reading I went ahead and continued reading the Jataka's tales. I have come to really enjoy them and love the messages that they give through the story. I was even beginning to think to myself that if or when I ever have children of my own, I would like to read them some of these stories. In this way they get to hear a great and fun story but maybe also they will pick up on some of the lessons that they are trying to teach the reader. I have to admit for this second A Beautiful Cover for Jataka's Tales That I Hope to Buy section of the Jataka's I was not reading like a writer like I had been in the past. Instead, I really wanted to soak in all the information and really dive into the story with having to judgement or ideas to change the originals in the back of my midn. I just wanted to read the story for its pure self. Like I said, I have come to love these stories and for that reason wanted to get the full effect of what they have to ...

Week 11 Reading Notes: Jataka Tales Part A

Image
This week I decided to not read more about the Krishna series and instead take a look at the Jataka Tales. I was really excited to get to read some of these great tales because I enjoy fables like Aesop's so much. All of the stories from part A were so good and all had great lessons embedded in them. Some of my favorite ones were "The Turtle that Couldn't Stop Talking", "The Monkey and the Crocodile", "The Ox who Won the Forfeit", and "The Foolish Timid Rabbit". As you can probably tell I enjoy the stories that use animals as characters the most. Different animals seem to put just another layer to the story that humans simply couldn't. Some even give you an idea of how the story Crocodile wishing for the Monkeys Hear t will go. For instance in the story "The Monkey and the Crocodile", before I even began to read the story I figured this would be a type of trickster story because monkeys are known to be very intelligent ...
