Week 8 Reading and Writing

Looking back at the past six weeks or so of reading and writing I have done, I have to say I am both impressed with the reading options as well as my performance as a writer. I like that there are a couple different reading options available to us. I have been using the free online domain for all my reading sources and find that they work great and are easy to read. In reality, besides the reading that was short stories, we have only gotten through two epics. This works well however because they are composed of many stories that take some time to read and understand. My favorite epic so far has been the Ramayana. I thought that the stories were all great and it had a good storyline to follow as well. It was easier, to me, to take reading notes on and create an original story from. These reading notes have helped me really outline my thoughts for my storytelling in class and have also helped to refine my stories in my portfolio. Speaking of my portfolio project, I have to admit I am very pleased
with how it is going. I love the way my site looks and how it navigates. I kind of wish I even did a storybook project because I feel my stories so far would have worked really well in composing a fluid story. I think that this project is definitely my greatest accomplishment this year so far because the site and stories all seem to work together great and feed off one another.

Week 6 Story: The Meek Prince

A long time ago in the kingdom of Lanka there lived two twin princes that were coming of the age to look for a wife and be wed. The two boy’s names were Shirma and Brahima. Although they were twins, the two young men were quite different from one another in both looks and attitude. Shirma was the first born of the two and was much larger and mightier than his brother Brahima. Shirma had long flowing hair and skin that was as fair as a lotus petal. He was also much more out going that Brahima. In today’s lingo, one might say he had a certain “bad-boy” swagger to him. Not that he was looking for trouble or was trouble but instead like he knew he was better than anyone else and let everyone know he knew. Brahima on the other hand was quite the opposite. He was meek, and mind toned. Now, each knew that their time for marriage was coming upon them and both knew that there was only one princess in all of India that would be suitable for them as a wife.
