Hey! I'm Kasey Gill and I guess your here to read a little bit about myself. Well, I'm sorry but get prepared to be bored. Just kidding, my life isn't all that bad to talk about. I was been born and raised in the semi-small town of El Reno, Oklahoma, some 25 miles or so west of the Oklahoma City.

I went to El Reno High School of course where, like most of us I'm sure had some good days and some bad days but always made the most of the days getting into trouble and making friends. During my four years there I began to fall in love with the thoughts and abilities of all things that science can offer the world. This started the basis of my higher level learning and future goals. As you could probably guess by the last statement I am in the Arts and Science's college majoring in Biology. I am a senior pre-med student and will be graduating in May (Thank the good Lord above). I have hopes of getting into the OUHSC medical program for the next year. Enough of basic college conversation starter talk, now let me tell you a little about what I love to do and where you can find me when I'm not on campus.

During the winter in Oklahoma I don't get out of the apartment much. You could say I go into like a hibernation state, which has been fine with me because lately the weather has been to dang cold to do anything. Instead, I am really active in the summer time, doing all the things that I love. My family and I have always taken a week or two long lake trip to Eufala during mid July. This is most likely why I have this overwhelming love for the lake. It is the place over anywhere else that I wish I could be all year long. So, during the summer I try to spend as many weekends and off days on the water as I can. If I'm not at the lake I am probably at a shop working on vehicles. A hobby of mine that has been passed down from my father is restoring classic cars. I have a couple that I enjoy and am always on the lookout for some new project to start. When its not to hot out, my buddies and me like to travel up to Little Sahara State Park and ride our four wheelers and the dunes. Unfortunately I haven't made it that way in a while. I will have to put that on my to do list this year!

I usually try to work as much as possible during the summer and during breaks from school. I am fortunate to know a handful of business owners in El Reno that are always willing to give me a job and make some money. The past few summers I have been working at the city pool, lifeguarding and maintain it part time. I was lucky enough to be able to be the primary city manager of the park and pool this past summer and hopefully I will be offered the job title again for this summer because itwas a lot of fun.
As far as other recreational things, I enjoy playing basketball, playing a little bit of COD every once and a while, and watching any good new series on Netflix. Now that I wont be able to watch Game of Thrones for the next two years I do not know what to watch so drop some suggestion in the comments please! Thanks for taking some time to get to know me a little! I hope you all have a great spring semester and to all your seniors about to graduate CONGRATS!
Hi Kasey! I have been to El Reno multiple times because I shadow at the Mercy Wound Care Clinic in El Reno. Congratulations on graduating soon and I wish you the best of luck for getting into medical school! I really like visiting Lake Eufala too! I enjoy being by any body of water really. I admire that you enjoy working on cars, I wish I had that skill.
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey! I also go to Lake Eufala during the summer. My grandparent actually have a lake house so that is where I spend most of my summer when I am not busy. I have always wanted to go to Little Sahara State Park, but have never made it that way to do it. Congrats on graduating this semester and good luck getting into med school. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteHey Kasey. I've always wanted to be car handy (I'm only slightly more savvy than the average human being), and I'm always impressed by someone who is! Do you usually just do body restorations, or do you work on the engines as well? I haven't been to Lake Eufaula, only Thunderbird, but I can't say I'm much of a lake person either way. For netflix suggestions, I just finished a gritty but excellent western series called Godless. It's pretty violent, but if you're into game of thrones, you shouldn't have an issue!
ReplyDeleteHello Kasey. My name is Jonathan. First off, congratulations on the last semester of college. I hope you do get into the OUHSC and wish you luck. After four years of college going directly into med school is brave. Restoring classic cars is an interesting hobby. I too am waiting for Game of Thrones and the year and a half is going to feel like forever.
ReplyDeleteHey Kasey. First of all congrats on almost being done with college, especially since studying Biology pre-med is not an easy task. I see you enjoy playing basketball too, so I am going to assume you play at the huff on occasion. I wonder if I've ever seen you there, I usually play around 6 p.m. to whenever.
ReplyDeleteHello Kasey. Best of luck getting into the medical program i am sure that must be really difficult. Its pretty neat that you like to restore classic cars. I also used to lifeguard and I admire your ability to do it for multiple summers. I also love being on the lake and cant wait for the weather to warm back up again.
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey, my name is Naomee. That's awesome that you grew up in a small town. I've always wondered what that may be like because I am originally from New York, otherwise known as the city that never sleeps! Anyway, good luck with this semester and I look forward to reading more of your blog posts.
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey, my name is Brandon. I too am from a small town near Tulsa. I think it is so cool that you actually got to go to Little Sahara. I have always wanted to go but I sold my ATV before I had the opportunity to make it up there. I as well play COD when I have spare time between studies. I look forward to getting to know you more this semester!
ReplyDeleteHey Kasey! Congrats on almost being done with your undergrad here at OU! From your introduction, I gathered that you like to go out and explore and to do adventurous stuff with your friends. Since you are occasionally up by the Little Sahara State Park, I would highly recommend going and checking out the Alabaster Caverns State park. There are large naturally formed caverns (one of which has been adapted for tours) that you can climb though and explore.
ReplyDeleteHey Kasey! It looks like you live such a full life! I am also from a small town, so I love to read about and see other people who are so passionate about their hometowns! That is so cool that you guys have those trips to Eufala Lake! I bet you all have the best time and make great memories together! I bet you’re ready for summer to come so that you are able to spend more time outside!
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey! Congratulations on making your way through college only a couple of months left! Also, I wish you all the luck possible for getting into OU's med school. I've never heard of El Reno, OK, which isn't saying much because I don't get out and explore Oklahoma as much as I probably should! It is awesome that you get to continue lifeguarding this summer I'm sure it feels amazing to have job security so you don't have to worry about it during your last semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey, it is awesome that you want to get in to med school. I was a microbiology major at one point, but all of the chem and physics started to kick my butt. I grew up in Lawton, and have visited el reno a few times for soccer games. Good luck with med school, I am sure you will get in.
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey , I enjoyed reading your introduction and I see you are from El Reno. Its crazy I always hear about this place but I never knew where it was. I always thought of El Reno to be a small ducked off country place where not a lot of people live. But congratulations on graduating this May I wish I could say the same thing, but I really hope you get into med school and become successful, time is running out and May is almost here !
ReplyDeleteHey Kasey! It is great to meet you. I used to go to El Reno as a child so many times because we had a family friend that lived there. You sound very passionate about your major and what you want to do in life. Also, congrats on your upcoming graduation!! I was supposed to graduate last December, but I decided to delay one year.
ReplyDeleteHello Kasey, your interest in restoring classic cars is fun, what sort of cars have you restored? I have helped a friend restore a 1942 Ford produced Army Jeep, and a 1962 Spitfire Triumph. Both of those projects have been immensely rewarding, and I look forward to working on more projects in the future. For Netflix shows, Black Mirror, Marco Polo, and Hundred Eyes are all good, of those, Marco Polo would be a great one for any GoT fans, it basically is a pseudo-historical GoT.
ReplyDeleteHi Kasey! Although it's the eighth week of class, I am still finding and meeting new people in this class. I loved reading about your car restoration hobby! That is incredibly special to have that passed down, and I hope you always find time to do that! My step dad is interested in car restoration as well, and so it's interesting to me to hear about how other people enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHello Kasey! It is really nice to hear about your life, and nice to meet you! Best of luck with getting into medical school! It is really challenging but I believe that you can do it! Car restoration seems like a really fun hobby and I am glad you are doing something you enjoy! Preserving history is important, and seeing how many cars end up in the junkyards must be painful for you! I hope you are enjoying the semester and good luck to you, once again, with your future endeavors!

Hi Kasey congradulations on graduating this year and good luck getting into medical school! It seems like you have a lot of interesting hobbies based on the classic car restoration and heading to the Little Sahara desert to four wheel. I have never been, but I have always wanted to go. It's great that you have found a major that you really like and are trying to pursue medical school.

ReplyDeleteHi Kasey,
ReplyDeleteYesss , I am also graduating from Arts and Science, maybe ill see you there. I am also from a small town called Collinsville. I understand the small town pain. I think that it is really cool that you can work on cars. That is a good skill to have. Good luck with the rest of the semester. We are almost done!
Hi Kasey! It was nice to read about your background, congratulations on graduating! I am graduating this May too with a degree in Microbiology so I definitely know how hard you have been working. I am starting at OU Med in the Fall so I wish you the best of luck and I hope to see you around there in the next few years. Don't give up! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Kasey!
ReplyDeleteI really like the design and layout of your blog and I feel like incorporating personal photos into your introduction was a nice touch! I love going to the lake and me and my family go to Lake Eufala too! I hope you are having a great semester so far and I can’t wait to explore the rest of your blog!
Hey there, Kasey!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that I have not commented on your introduction yet! I know that we had Myth Folklore last semester together. I hope your semester has been going great so far! I am sure you are busy studying for finals and preparing for graduation. I wish you the best as you close out the semester! We only have a week left!
