Week 10 Reading Notes Part A: Krishna Video

I decided to do my reading this week as watching the videos. I really liked the epified videos I had watched before in week 6 or 7 I believe so when I saw we had the chance to watch more epified short stories I knew that is what I was going to do. Right off the bat in the first episode of the tale of the birth of Krishna, I thought that the birth was much like that of the birth of Jesus in the Christian religion. Yes there are many differences but both were born in a lowly state. One in a stable in a manger and one in a jail cell. In both instances the animals seemed to know what was happening. That a god was being born on earth. Further more in the second story the father and son snuck out of the prison because of the fear that the evil king would kill the child. This also is like the Christian tale that King Herod wanted to kill the baby Jesus so Mary and Joseph fled with Jesus. I thought that when Krishna's mother looked in his mouth and saw all the universe it struck me as kind of weird. I wondered why they would use his mouth as the place where this was held. The story that I think I could use was the one where the woman became and demoness and stole the child out into the forest to kill him. That could go along with my preacher epic very well I think.

Week 6 Story: The Meek Prince

A long time ago in the kingdom of Lanka there lived two twin princes that were coming of the age to look for a wife and be wed. The two boy’s names were Shirma and Brahima. Although they were twins, the two young men were quite different from one another in both looks and attitude. Shirma was the first born of the two and was much larger and mightier than his brother Brahima. Shirma had long flowing hair and skin that was as fair as a lotus petal. He was also much more out going that Brahima. In today’s lingo, one might say he had a certain “bad-boy” swagger to him. Not that he was looking for trouble or was trouble but instead like he knew he was better than anyone else and let everyone know he knew. Brahima on the other hand was quite the opposite. He was meek, and mind toned. Now, each knew that their time for marriage was coming upon them and both knew that there was only one princess in all of India that would be suitable for them as a wife.
