Reading Notes Part C: The Mahabharata
Part C of the Mahabharata was a great read! It had great sections of solitude and patients that got us ready for the great war or battle that was to come. That is where it ended us, wishing to continue to read on as we get to the climax of the epic with the much anticipated war. There is a story in this section that I am most particularly excited about because it will work perfectly with my portfolio and future story that I have wanted to do. For this I wanted to do an origin story for my magical gold pistol from a past story I did "The Preacher in the West". The story that I have just read, "Arjuna and Shiva" came along at the perfect time and will be a great story to retrofit for my golden pistol origin story. In the original, Arjuna goes out into the wild and begins to praise the Great God relentlessly in
a special place until at last he appears after many days and gives him some mighty weapons. I think I could essentially use every part of this story and make it into the western feel like I did last time. It could start with the preacher having to leave his home because of some distress and he had heard of a place in the northern wilderness that brought strength to the indigenous people. He would go their and being a preacher he would praise God and pray to him for a sign. After many harsh nights in the wilderness maybe God would finally appear to him in the shape of some animal and tell the preacher to do something to his old ragged pistol like make a special fire and then toss it into it and then BOOM magical weapon. I think it would follow the original nicely and be a good way to remake it.
